Thrudheim Kindred Freyfaxi Blót

August 9, 1998

On Sunday, August 9, 1998, Thrudheim Kindred held a small impromptu blót at the home of Cliff and Elise in Cookeville. Dinner was the first order of business and consisted of baked catfish with a dill sauce, greens, and potatoes. Steve brought a pound cake for dessert which was garnished with fried apples. A blót to Frey to celebrate the harvest was held in the backyard in a small grove of trees overlooking a valley and lake. A bread boar was sacrificed and vegetables from Bernhard's garden were placed in the fire as a burnt offering. The landwights, who had been active all day according to Cliff, made their presence felt during sumbel. Elise left part of the bread animal on a rock that must surely be home to some of them. The rest of the evening was spent discussing how best to grow the kindred and planning for Winter Finding. Cliff also informed the group that his two-year probation as Goodman in the American Vinland Association was up so that he can proceed with the Godhi tests in preparation to be ordained.
