March 21, 1999
The farm of Beth and John was the site for the kindred's Summer Finding blót on Sunday, March 21. Clouds and rain in the morning gave way to beautiful blue skies in the afternoon and Sunna's radiant warmth greeted the folk.
Beth had prepared a beautiful little area for the blót. A new guest, Brian, sounded the horn to announce our gathering to the Aesir and Vanir. Cliff warded the site with his massive hammer and asked us all to focus on our purpose. A sacrifice of mead was offered up to the gods and goddesses. As the horn passed around the circle, toasts were offered to Ostara, Erdha, Frigga, and others. Beth blessed the group with the blessing-twigg.
Eggs were then decorated and hid for the children. They had a great time finding them all and not a one was stepped on!
The feast was fantastic and featured a wonderful baked ham from Beth with side items and dessert provided by the other kindred members.
After the feast a sumbel was held in the traditional manner. As a hope for the future, Cliff mentioned that he and Elise are expecting their first child. Hearty congratulations were offered by all. It appears that the fire jumping from last time proved helpful!
