Thruðheim Kindred Charming of the Plow Blót

February 17, 2002

The Charming of the Plow Blót was held at the Misenheimer homestead this year. It was a delightfully sunny, if somewhat cool, day that saw the kindred gather in Knoxville. Several new folks showed up as well as friends from last summer.

It was a full house with people from all over East Tennessee - Cookeville, Tri-Cities, Chattanooga and Knoxville. There was the usual catching up to do and getting ready for the feast. As usual the food was plentiful and delicious with numerous casseroles and desserts. The brewer's magic cooler also made its usual appearance.

After the feast the kindred gathered at the garden. Dea read a poem and then offered a grain cake to Mother Earth in the hopes of a bountiful harvest this year. Cliff asked Frey for his help and recounted the wooing of Gerð.

A short sumbel was held after the blót indoors. All too soon it was time to head home.
