Thruðheim Kindred Ostara Blót

April 21, 2002

One would have thought summer had arrived as the kindred met to celebrate Ostara - the temperature was in the 80's. But the dry weather was appreciated since most of the activities took place out of doors at the Osborne homestead.

After a bit of socializing, the long anticipated feast was held. Beth's baked ham lived up to its reputation. Other items included a seafood casserole, black-eyed peas, green beans, jello salad, deviled eggs, and apple pie. No one left the table hungry.

Next it was time for the kids to hunt eggs. This year Beth and Dea had prepared a scavenger hunt as well, which everyone enjoyed. Prizes were awarded to the participants based on how well they completed the hunt.

Once the games were over, it was time for the blót. Beth acted as gyðja as the group gathered at the wooded vé. As part of the blót the group was blessed with spring water and rune eggs were selected at random and eaten. Dea's long awaited induction as an elder member also took place.

Due to busy schedules, the kindred headed home shortly afterwards.
