If you like water, you would have loved the Winter Finding Blót camping weekend at Frozen Head State Park. Survivors of last year's Freyfaxi event at Cosby can no longer claim top honors. By some accounts we endured 2-3 inches of rain on Sunday. However, the Viking Long Tarp (tm) was up to the task and everyone kept pretty dry.
It was a small group that braved the weather to camp out. Most arrived by noon as the rain was just ending. The rest of Saturday and Saturday night was actually rain free and even the full moon made a brief appearance. The rain returned with a vengeance Sunday morning and did not let up until about 3:00 in the afternoon.
The schedule followed the usual sequence - sumbel around the campfire Saturday night with a blót and potluck feast on Sunday. All told there were around 10 hearty souls by Sunday. Beth conducted an Oðin's blót with a rune drawing. Several remarked about the electricity in the air as the Gray Wanderer paid a visit.
Due to the weather, we had the whole park to ourselves so the feast was moved to a picnic shelter. Afterwards, a few made the short hike to DeBord Falls along the Panther Creek Trail. In spite of the weather, those who came had a good time
