Einherjar was supposed to be the last camping event of the year but due to the weather - rain and temperatures in the low 40s, cooler heads prevailed and the blót was moved at the last minute to the Nylander homestead. Most of the kindred turned out even though there was a threat of snow.
Activities started around noon with people bring all sorts of tasty dishes for the potluck feast. Eating commenced soon after the last arrival. The weather had definitely whetted appetites.
Once the feast was done the vé was set up in the side yard facing north. Steve acted as goði and gave praise to the Einherjar and Ull. During the blót, weapon steel was blessed. The weather held out until almost the end when a few flakes of snow were seen.
Everyone was eager to go back inside after the cold and windy blót. A free-form sumbel was held and missing kindred members were hailed. Concerns were also expressed for the probable upcoming conflict with Iraq.
Conversation lasted until the early evening and then the kindred members started to make their way home.
