Thruðheim Kindred Summer Finding Blót
March 14, 2004

JamboreeR |
It was a typical March day in East Tennessee - comfortably mild with a hint of drizzle in the air - as the kindred members assembled at Steve and Tracy 's homestead for the Summer Finding Blót .
Everyone snacked and visited until Beth, acting as gyðja, called for all to assemble outside. The area was first hallowed, then Frigg and Hredha were boldly hailed, as the kindred members welcomed the return of warmer weather and thoughts turned toward summer. Next, Beth performed the Blessing of the Lucet, weaving a knot for each kindred member present.
Feast was held after blót and, as usual, there was plenty of delicious fare to sample - deviled eggs, chicken, casserole, corned beef and cabbage, and plenty of desserts.
At dusk, we gathered indoors around a candle for sumbel. Sumbel went on several toasts into the open rounds, then Beth broke out the instruments and an impromptu JamboreeR was held. We had guitars, whistles, mandolins and singing in a jam session that went on for a couple of hours. It was totally off the hook, and with camping just around the corner, there's sure to be more of this in the near future.
Eventually, at about 9:00, guests began their journeys home.
