Thruðheim Kindred Winter Finding Blót
September 25-26 , 2004

Winter Findng |
Well, we were sure it would rain. After all, we were camping at Frozen Head State Park, the site of many soggy events in the past. On top of that, we rescheduled the blót from the previous weekend because of weather concerns. It turned out that the weekend before was beautiful. So, there we were, figuring that it would be just our luck…
The weather was absolutely perfect! A gorgeous fall weekend at one of the kindred’s favorite campgrounds…the tone was set for the entire weekend.
Kindred campers began arriving shortly after 1:00 p.m. and set up camp. The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying the outdoors and each other’s company.
After sundown, we gathered around the fire for the traditional Saturday evening sumbel. This particular sumbel was mostly serious in tone and there was great energy and frith around the circle as Gods, Goddesses, family and friends were toasted.
Once more, congratulations should be heaped upon Steve and Tracy in
voluminous amounts – Happy AnniversaryR! We were happy to share the event with you at the site of your wedding.
A great sumbel wound down shortly after the round of anniversary toasts. Of course, that meant KipperTimeR was upon us:
Small fish ravaged with fearless fury
Tasty herring treats for ravenous hunger
Grain boats sail into gaping mouths
Pilfered coffers litter the table of battle
The following morning we awoke to a crisp, sunny morning. Blót was held shortly after noon in front of the big rock. The space was hallowed with both hammer and spear, as this was a blót dedicated to Oðin. The Gray Wanderer was hailed and a rune drawing was held where each kindred member drew a rune from our set of amber kindred runes. Everyone agreed afterwards that it was a very powerful and energy-charged blot. Thanks Cliff!
It was such a beautiful day, and there was so much good energy in the air, many of us stayed late into the afternoon before departing after another frithful weekend.
