It appeared that our soggy camping luck was going to return. Redbeard was attending to business in the area Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning -- rain and thundershowers, complete with light shows, blanketed East Tennessee and we were prepared for a soggy first camping event of the year.

However, by the time we arrived at camp the skies had cleared and the sun was shining. The weather held, fortunately, and it ended up being a beautiful weekend.

Saturday evening, after sundown, we gathered around the fire for the traditional sumbel. The first outdoor sumbel of the season always seems magical, and this was no exception.

Following sumbel, it was KipperTimeR, and the kippers took a beating from a hungry crew of campers. With full belliesRs, after a little more visiting, everyone settled down for a little rest.

Sunday morning was a little cloudy, but very comfortable. Make, Bernhard, and Herbert decided to take a hike up to Castle Rock while the others breakfasted.

Once the hikers returned, we gathered in a clearing for a very heartfelt and powerful blot presided over by Beth. Ostara was hailed and offerings made. Feast followed blot, and as usual there was plenty of excellent fare to sample.

As late afternoon approached we loaded up the vehicles and headed home after a great first camping weekend of the year.
