Thruðheim Kindred Ostara Blót 2008

April 19-20, 2008
Spring
Blooming violets and the green of spring cover up the last brown leaves of winter

After a wet and cold weather forecast, plans to camp were altered, and kindred members and friends gathered together at Steve's on Saturday evening to kick off Ostara weekend. There was fun, there were laughs and there was music as Herbert took Steve's new guitar for a spin around the block.

Of course, there were plenty of snacks to graze on and the usual conversation, catching up and discussion took place.

The highlight of the evening came during sumbel, when Alex was asked if he would like to become a member of our Kindred. Talon had the honor of extendng the invitation, and all were happy to hear Alex accept. Alex will take his oath next month at May Blót.

Following sumbel, there was more guitar playing, eating ,drinking, and even some UFC fight watching. The last of the guests headed home well after midnight.

Sunday morning arrived sunny and warmer, as the Folk arrived at Herbert and Suzanne's for Ostara Blót. Once all guests arrived, we headed down to the lower lot by the BogR. Beth, serving as gydhja, officiated the rite and Ostara was honored in a wonderful blót that saw the sun shine down upon us as we stood around the vei.

We returned back up to the house for feast, where we found the usual lavish spread ready for us. This month we had sausage, potatoes and saurkraut, casserole, pork tenderloin, baked chicken, deviled eggs, cheeses, fruit salad, brownies and apple pie -- just to name a few of the dishes;-).

The beautiful Spring day was frith-filled and enjoyed by all. It came to a close late Sunday afternoon as members and guests headed back to their homes enriched by another memorable weekend.
