Thruðheim Kindred Winter Finding Blót 2008
September 20-21, 2008

An offering to the Allfather |
The first traces of fall were in the air as Kindred members, family and friends gathered together at the primitive camping area at Frozen Head State Park to celebrate Winter Finding. The weather was clear and sunny and it was close to perfect camping weather.
With a little college football on the radio in the background, most of the afternoon was spent catching up with one another, visiting and telling stories. Before we knew it, the sun had set and we gathered around the fire for sumbel. Most agreed afterwards that it was quite a powerful sumbel, and many felt the presence of the Allfather with us.
KipperTimeR was a hit this month, and many tins of small fish were emptied as the conversation went on into the wee hours of the morning. Eventually, everyone found their tents and got some rest.
Sunday morning came early for those who stayed up late, but it was cool, crisp and refreshing as we gathered around the fire to warm up a bit. Talon and Felecia made a little breakfast for those who wanted it - sausage and tortillas. Others went straight for the coffee.
Herbert called everyone around the vei around noon and led a heartfelt blót to Odin, the Allfather. The traditional drawing of the runes was led by Beth, who took her hand-carved kindred rune set around the circle so that all who wanted to could draw a rune. Once again, many felt the Gray Wanderer with us, and he was honored and thanked for his many gifts.
Feast followed blót, and as always, there was an abundance of tasty fare to sample with everything from appetizers to desserts available. Eventually, it was time to head back to our cars and make the drive home after another memorable weekend.
