Bernhaerd welcomes Richard to the Kindred

The hot, Southern Summer was in full effect as the Folk of Thrudheim Kindred began filing into Frozen Head State Park for the 2010 Midsummer celebration. A rainstorm early in the day had the Folk prepared for a repeat of last year's Great Deluge, and shelters were erected with haste as Redbeard's Thunder rolled in the distance. The weather stayed its hand however and the afternoon and evening proved pleasant.

Much joy was had at the expense of soon-to-be Kindred member Richard with his addition of the Tinker TentR to Kindred Lore. A small oversight caused him to purchase a tent so small it would have given Bilbo Baggins a stiff neck were he forced to cram his tiny hobbit frame into it. Much good-natured teasing, conversation, joking, fellowship and of course, snacking went on as the light gradually faded.

When darkness settled across the park, the fire was kindled and Sumbel began. The traditional three rounds of toasting to the Gods and Kin and the airing of boasts and hopes for the future were had along with a short open round before the ritual ended in it's own time. One by one, the sleepy folk began to retire to the tents while the usual diehards hung on for Kipper TimeR and late night commentary on deep subjects like, firearms, b-rated sci-fi movies, and sword and sorcery novels.
Finally when the wee hours were officially reached, the last of the Folk made their way to the tents for sleep.

The next morning dawned sunny and plesant and fellowship resumed as we awaited the arrival of additional Kindred members and the noon hour for a very special Midsummer Blot. When the time arrived Cliff led us in a moving Blot to Baldur and Sunna, as we celebrated the Sun's highest peak after which the year begins its decline into Winter. Following the Blot, Herb took the reins for an always special and joyous occasion, the addition of a new, sworn member to our Kindred.

Richard took his Kindred Oath and was welcomed home with hugs from all. Following the Oath, the offering was made and the Holy Work completed. The hungry Folk then returned to the campsite for a delicious Summer feast. Too soon, the time came to part and all bid one another farewell until the next meeting.
