Thruðheim Charming of the Plow Blót 2010

The Kindred gathered Saturday evening at Jarlshof to begin this years Charming of the Plow festivities. We had the pleasure of welcoming back Tracey who had visited with us once before. The early evening was spent in the usual way, that being catching up and raiding the plentiful snacks.
Well after dark, candles were lit and we gathered round for Sumbel. To say this Sumbel was the same as they all are would be an accurate statement. There was laughter, tears, and many weighty words cast into the well of Wyrd. After the three usual rounds, and several open-Sumbel toasts, the group made their way home for the evening.
Sunday morning we gathered once again at Jarlshof where the snack table was subjected to a savage plundering..
After everyone who was able to attend arrived, the Vei was set up in the back yard and Makke let a Blót to Frey. This being the Blót to celebrate the re-greening of the land and beginning of the growing season it is appropriate that we should invoke Frey and ask his blessing for the coming year. To end the Blót a loaf of bread was offered back to the earth from which it came to give our thanks, a gift for a gift.
Afterwards everyone went back indoors to feast. Dishes this time around included, chicken & rice stew, sweet potatoes, macaroni & cheese, kraut with sausages, and home made bread. For dessert there was strawberry cheesecake.
In the early evening everyone made their way home with full hearts and bellies which brought to a close another successful Thruðheim Blót weekend.
