Thruðheim Summer Finding Blót 2010
March 20-21, 2010

Clint led blót |
This year, blot weekend fell on the spring equinox, and true to its name, summer was not hard to find. Saturday turned out sunny and mild in contrast to the cold and rainy winter weather that everyone had grown so weary of.
Kith and kin gathered at the Saxonhof, homestead to Shari and Bernhard. The weather was so delightful that everyone stayed out on the patio enjoying snacks that everyone had brought.
When it started getting dark and cool, the group moved indoors to prepare for sumbel. The usual three rounds seemed to go quickly, but the words spoken were heartfelt as always as they made their way into the well. Of special note, the gods and goddesses were asked to watch over those members and their families unable to attend.
In contrast to Saturday, Sunday dawned gray, cool, and rainy, as if Old Man Winter were still trying to hold on. This did not dampen the spirits of the kindred who scoff at the rain, especially while camping. Clint served as godhi this time and led a blot to the Gray Wanderer. He then held a mini-sumbel where everyone had to boast about a personal accomplishment of the past year and to express a hope for the future. Everyone agreed this was a powerful blot in spite of Clint's comic troubles wrestling jormuncorkR out of the mead bottle. (Everyone has since pitched in to send Clint to remedial corkscrew class.)
After the blot it was time for the feast! This turned out to be a "meat-n-taters" affair with ham, pork loin, two kinds of mashed potatoes, a pasta salad and many more sides and desserts. The afternoon was spent in pleasant conversation until it was time to part company..
